How to factory reset a HTC Desire

You can return your phone to its original factory state by performing a factory reset. Resetting your phone erases all data such as phone contacts, call history and downloaded applications, but will not erase data stored on your phone’s microSD card such as photos and music.

Performing a factory reset via settings

The most convenient way to do a factory reset is via the phone settings.

  1. With the phone turned on
  2. Press the HOME button then the MENU button
  3. Select the SETTINGS option
  4. HTC-Wipe1
  5. From the list, select the SD & PHONE STORAGE option
  6. HTC-Wipe2
  7. From the list, select the FACTORY DATA RESET option

  9. Click on the RESET PHONE button then the ERASE EVERYTHING button
  10. Your phone will erase all personal data and restart. It may take a few minutes for the process to complete.
  11. When ready the phone will present the first use setup wizard.
