[SOLVED] DELL – Wake On Lan Not Working

Problem:

After enabling Wake on LAN the computer still fails to boot after the WOL ‘magic packet’ is sent.

When you check the network cable you notice that the LAN activity lights are both turned off.

Solution:

This issue occurs when the energy saving option is enabled in the BIOS.

For the Dell Optiplex 755 this is called ‘low power mode’ and must be ‘off’ for WOL to work.

  1. There appears to be no real solution to waking these PC’s up from sleep mode in Windows 10. They WOL from power off and hibernate, but never from S3 sleep. I’ve tried every driver I can find and tweaked every setting available. If anyone has ever been able to get that working, please comment how.
