Windows 11 – How to Stop Sleep When Closing the Laptop Lid

By default Windows 11 will make a laptop computer to go sleep when the lid is closed.

The following steps show how to change this, making it so the computer will stay on when the lid is closed.

  1. Open the Settings window by pressing Windows + I  on your keyboard
  2. In the search field, at the top-left of the window, type lid
  3. When it appears, click on the ‘Change what closing the lid does’ option
  4. Set ‘When I close the lid’ to ‘Nothing’ for ‘On battery’ and/or ‘Plugged in’ 
  5. Click ‘Save changes’
