VLC media player – how to disable track change notification

By default, when VLC media player changes tracks a notification appears at the bottom right of the screen.

In Windows 10 this also comes with a sound which is annoying and distracts from the video or music you’re playing.

The steps below show how to disable the notification in VLC media player — if you want to just disable the sound, see Windows 10 – How to disable notification sounds.

  1. With VLC media player open, click on the ‘Tools’ menu then click on ‘Preferences’
  2. Using the ‘Simple‘ interface (“Show settings” option at bottom left of window) – change ‘Show media change popup’ to ‘Never’
  3. Click ‘Save’ to save the changes.
