Problem
After installing IrfanView image thumbnails are not displayed in File Explorer (also known as My Computer, Computer or Windows Explorer).
Solution
- In the taskbar, type “control panel” and click on ‘Control Panel’ when it appears in the search results
- In the “Search Control Panel” box at the top right type “folder options”
- Click on ‘File Explorer Options’ when it appears in the window
- Open the ‘View’ tab
- Un-tick ‘Always show icons, never thumbnails’
- Click ‘OK’ to save the changes.
- Thumbnails will now be displayed in Windows Explorer.
Doesn’t work. this also was posted in 2017
yeah, can’t figure it out…guess i’m deleting Infranview and hoping it solves the problem.
I had this problem with the box already unchecked. check it, apply, uncheck it, apply again
that worked for me.
Same issue here for us on Win10 LTSC x64.
this method does NOT work….
this is shown in the google search aswell… its NOT working
I have this problem, and I’m a long time user of Irvanview. These steps do not fix this problem for my Windows 10 installations. Even with that option unticked, “icon” views in Windows Explorer continue to show just the Irfanview cat icon and not thumbnails of the pictures they represent.
